Your in-laws live near Austin drop the kids there and you and the wife hit Hippie Hollow

Let me know how she handles your new suggestion.

You have to wade in the Frio somewhere. Garner State Park is a nice place to go. Go to rock beach and watch the crazy people jump out of the tree, across the river. There are rope swings and the water is nice and cool. At night, you can hit the pavilion at Garner and dance the night away. There are kids of all ages along with adults having fun. Have fun and let us know where you go.

The only thing is it has to be little kid friendly (7 and 5 year old) and West of I35 between DFW and San Antonio.

The Blue Hole in Wimberly is the only stop in stone right now. We have a bunch penciled in including an area near Camp Wood off the Nueces I saw on another TBH thread!

          Suggestions?
hamilton pool and krause springs they are both in the austin area. but if you went farther north in west texas Balmorhea state park is a natural spring swimming pool , lots of people go there to train for scuba diving and you will also be swimimg with the fish and its a constant 72 degrees year round i believe.

Which road is that off of?

having somewhere to go swim after filling feeders in the summer time would be cool.

We found an awesome swimming hole last summer. Can't wait to get back out there.

Here is a thread I started on swimming holes in Texas.

No real advice for swimming holes, but its a cool idea for a family trip!
There's a huge swimming hole at Bugscuffle and it had a trampoline in he middle of it and they can even watch you shoot stuff from the zoo stand while they are swimming.

Maybe it was the property adjoining where the hole is? I know he griped a lot about trespassers etc. on the property. I can't remember exactly ... it was a good ride though from what I remember.
Yep, I bet he lives or lived in one of the houses that are ajacent to the creek. Those folks aren't too friendly with trespassers.

                      Negative Ghostrider.

The man you met was David Baker. He owned all the property surrounding the Well. He owned the old RV park, the building where the POA is now at with the old pool and tennis courts and proiperty going down both sides of Cypress Creek almost down to the Low water Crossing. I know because I was one of 2 guys that watched over the guys that Judge Cable sent out on the weekends for comunity service that helped clean the place up.

Just in the last 2 yrs the state and Hays county have purchased the property and David donated parts of the property to allow Hays County to build a park that is still in the books. It is part of the money that was given to Hays County for the Blue Hole park remodel. David still lives on the other side of the creek and has been a large reason that the County bought the land north of Jacobs Well that was about to be another huge neighborhood that will now be part of the park.

David is a hippie and I dont agree with everything he does but he has done more to get Jacobs Well back to the people than anyone else ever has. He spent most all his time running off people that were there trashing the place smoking drinking and throwing their trash all over the well. SO to answer you guys, yes all the property around Jacobs Well was owned by one guy so the well did as well. It all now belongs to Hays County and the State of Texas. David is still overseeing this area since he is a direstor for the Wimberley watershed Orginazation that is given the management from the county.

I have seen the future plans for it and it will be very nice but I dont see it happening in the next couple yrs.

“The purchase of Jacob’s Well protects an important part of our ecological and cultural heritage,” said Hays County Precinct 3 Commissioner Will Conley, who noted that the county’s stated goal for the property will be to raise awareness of natural resource values and the importance of conserving freshwater habitats without causing harm to the site.

David Baker, Executive Director of WVWA, said “We have always held the vision of sharing Jacob’s Well with the community and using this unique place to experience the connection between land stewardship and clean water. The preservation of this land is a tremendous step forward in our communities’ efforts to protect the aquifer recharge area and watersheds that feed Jacob’s Well and Cypress Creek.”

Well I stand corrected. I guess the people I was listening to were way wrong....or just that they and I assumed the WVWA was not an individual. Maybe this explains why the RV park is now closed.

I guess I wasn't all wrong as I made the comment because I had heard, since I lived here, that the WVWA owned it and recently the county had acquired it.

                          DaveC,
Once in Menard head out of town on 2092. If you go over the bridge you've passed it up. You'll take a left on an unpaved rd right before the bridge to the water.

I have no idea if it's still there, but when I was in high school late 60's early 70's we used to skip school and go to a place called edge falls, north east of Bergheim. Dont know if you can still get to it but it was a nice swimming hole. Man life was simple back then!
