Help Radiator Guards and Overheating Problems?

Hey guys! I have recently bought a used Rhino that is overheating. At least thats what the indicator light says. I have flushed and filled the system up with Engine Ice. Water Pump seems to be doing its job since the coolant is flowing. I dont believe I have a gasket problem either. This Rhino does have a Radiator Guard. I am going to remove it and see what happens. I am just wondering if anyone has had a overheating problem that was caused by a radiator guard restricting air flow?? Also, any comments on other potential problems would be helpful. It is overheating when I am just putting around.

Is the electric fan running?? Might be a therostat problem. Try wiring the fan direct to 12 volts and see if it still gets hot.

No thermostat on the Rhino. Checked it last night and no thermostat in it which is good. Fan seems to be clicking on and off fine.

Is it supposed to have a thermostat? If the coolant does not get to stop flowing, it will just steadily get hotter. Thermostat stops it so the radiator can cool it down.

Does it smell hot when the light comes on? How long after you start it until it comes on? Maybe its just the sensor

Not supposed to have a thermo Golden Eagle per mechanic. My Grizzly had thermo that I took out and filled system with engine ice and I never had a overheat issue again. Both machines have the same 660 engine. Jaspro it takes about thirty minutes of just easy slow trail driving before light comes on. It does not smell hot and the reservoir tank doesnt move. I think the aftermarket radiator guard is minimizing air flow. I am just going to wash coils real good and take after market guard off to see what happens.

Have you rinsed the fins out. My Kubota catches a lot of dust in the fins and I have to rinse it a few times a year.

Going to rinse the fins out for sure before I ride it again. Just trying to see if anyone has put on an aftermarket radiator guard that has caused them a overheating problem. Just looking it gave me some concern since I would think anything that would block airflow could be a problem.

Rinsing the fins will do wonders, if it has a winch or anything restricting air flow this will do it as well.

Kind of what I am thinking as well! If a winch can block airflow this after market radiator guard sure will! lol

Ok removed radiator guard, rinsed fins, flushed system and filled with engine ice. I ran it good yesterday at the lease and no over heating problem! Problem solved. Thanks for the input!
