dog question

i have a dog that is 4 goin on 5 years old. she just started digging holes everywhere in the yard. not sure what is going on. we have 5 acres for her to roam on and it is not that she is bored. any ideas what could have her digging.

My dogs dig to find a cool place to lay in.

I did have a dog once that dug small holes everywhere. It drove me nuts untill I saw why she was doing it. Moles. I don't know if she could hear them or smell them but that dog got rid of every mole in my yard.

it may be the moles. not sure. the holes are small so she is not laying in them to stay cool.

ive seen it happen with insects as well. if they are multiple shallow holes especially in the spring time

yep smaller holes just big enough to turn an ankle if not paying attention.

Could be moles but just to be sure,treat your yard for grub worms and insects. Especially if they are shallow four or five swipe paw holes. They will dig for them. If its the heat (which would be a crater in a couple of spots constanly getting deeper and deeper), I have used a small kids pool filled with dirt, put under a shade tree and conditioned them to dig there to stay cool, it's worked for me.
