First Turkey Hunt of the Season

My fiance and I are headin to Bandera for our first trip of the season. With a little luck, I'll be able to put her on her first turkey.

Service permitting, I'll update as much as possible.

I am sitting here watching a long beard strutting up and down fence line of coastal field about 100 yds away from my house. Now he moved up into cow pen......Here comes more up now 2 more large toms make that three toms following 5-6 hens. They are next to front yard only 50 yds from window here by labtop........I need to learn how to operate that dital camera.......Hope you are having luck with them too.......Andy

Sounds like a target rich environment.

As for my hunt, we called in 6 jakes but the gobblers went leave their hens. The birds are still in some pretty big flocks right now. To be successful when hunting the big flocks, it's very important to know where the birds are heading and setup and wait. This was not the case for me this morning and I got to watch the gobblers walk the other way.

I'll be back at it next weekend... Thursday - Mondy

                  Good luck!

I hope ours show back up in the next few weeks. We had a good flock that have vanished recently.
