    Welder/Generator Question

Anyone know what size generator I need to power this Lincoln welder, it's a 220 with 50 amps. Going to be welding some fence panels a little to far from the fuse box and can't use an extension. Should I try and rent a gas powered welder?

        Volts x amps = watts.

So the 12k generator would work fin since the 50A draw is at MAX output, and you will probably be welding at 50-60% of capacity maximum....the lower you weld (smaller rod) the smaller generator you can get away with.

I think you would be much better off renting a gas rig vs. frying your generator.

Thanks for the info...could not find a big enough generator but I did find a place that'll rent a gas welder/ generator for 60.00 a day. Thanks again guys good info. Green screen rocks.
