    Vertical vs. Horizontal Pins

Why do y'all shoot one or the other and what are the pros and cons?

    #2
I choose the horizontal because it allows me to adjust to a different or off yardage.
    For example I have 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 yard pins.

If a deer is at 22 yards its not that big of deal I put the 20 yard pin where I want it on him and let it fly.

However, I like to mess around and shoot other stuff too. Birds in the back yard, rabbits, mice under the feeder on a slow day, squirells, snakes, etc.

If a bird is at 22 yards and I put the 20 yard pin on him and let it fly Im gonna miss! So I put him between the 20 and 25 yard pin and let it fly. I still might miss, after all its a small target but I have a better chance being able to see him in the sight picture without having to guess where he is through a vertical pin.

Better sight window with a vertical. IMO. HHA or the Trophy Ridge.

i prefer the vertical. no horizontal pin covering up the belly line on an animal. plus thats what comes on the hha sights

I shoot right handed even though I'm left eye dominant.

horizontal pins and too many of them cluttered my view.

I shoot a single vertical pin and I can almost guarantee I will never change!

                single vertical

                -OR-

                horizontal pins

when pins are stacked vertically, they are too hard to see the tips

Tips are super bright and cover very little of the target.

IF your buddies are as cruel as mine and tease me about my color blindness I struggle with vertical. Horizontal allows me to see the yardage pins clearly.
