    TEXAS (every one loves texan)

im gonna try and keep it short and sweet. My job is to travel around the United States and open up stores for HFT. i love it, i get to meet people i never would have meet in my life time if i just stayed in la porte. i was in san jose cali about three months ago, and the people their at the bar i was going to took me in like i was one of them. Gave me ton of free draft beer, took me to their local bars, and even gave me a free shirt. then i was in philly and their were two guys we went out with me to the red robbin next door to the hotel and bought me drink stayed out all night with me and... took me in as one of their own. I meet them again in new jersey were i was at last month and when i saw them they both gave me a huge like i grew up with them or something. tonight im in connecituc and i needed my hair cut, and went to a barber shop and i walked in and told them i needed a hair cut and their first words was "were you from" i said TEXAS! and the told me they didnt officially open untill monday, but they said if you need one ill give you one right now. So i got my hair cut and he did a good job, they really car about their hair cuts up here. He then asked if i would like to go out witn them and see the night life around here, i told him heck yeah! So after i got my hair cut i went to the bar next to my hotel and meet two lovely ladies who were so sweat to me and seemed very interseted in texas and what were all about, and i told them about the hunting fishin and baseball, football(highschool), but the best thing i told them was about how friendly everyone is. I told them that Repsect gose along way in texas, you can easily get your a** woop buy saying the wrong thing, but if your respectfull and apoliges it will mean alot to whomever you p***ed off. I have meet a ton of people outside of texas and every time i tell them i from texas, the first thing they do is smile .. well anyways just wanted to let everyone know about how much people like us. were strong and dont need the goverments hand to help us out, we belive in the bible and having a good time, and we all have hearts as big as texas!

Met some Aussies on Guam one time. As soon as they found out I was from Texas, they wanted to fight I asked why they wanted to fight me so bad. They said,so they could go home, and tell all their mates, they got to fight a Texan. I said no thanks, maybe some other time, but you could buy me a drink instead. OMG,did I feed the fish, in the harbor that night.

Keith....thats a nice paragraph you wrote, but proof read next time. Some of your sentence threw me off a little bit. But most important, what was the end result with the chicks? ( or )

When he came back from San Jose, my first question was how many guys hit on him at the bars?

There is in TEXAS! Yeah, seriously though, it sounded kinda like a pakistani email from the emperors palace wanting to give me a million dollars. Proofread.

How great is it that 6 of the 10 replies to a post about how wonderful Texans are have been picking on him and making fun of him?

Sorry OFD. I just have a weird sense of humor.

Excellent point about Texans - at least from what I hear. The people of Dallas cannot necessarily be classified into this category as it's a young city with a lot of money and a bit of a melting pot of different cultures and people that have moved here for work. This tends to lead to a bunch of overpaid kids that are very materialistic, stuck up, and pretentious. For that reason, i'd love to get out and see the true side of TX. Let me know what i need to do for that...

also, just wanted to point one thing out. it seems as though you are holding everyone from TX at a higher regard. however, it also seems that everyone you travel to, you run into a group of people that are taking you in as one of their own, being incredibly hospitable, and even making friends that you're likely to keep in touch with. With all of these different scenarios representing prime examples of hospitality, friendliness, and all around good gestures to your fellow man, are you still feeling that TX is more welcoming than these other areas?

***I honestly am not trying to start anything here but just curious why you would feel these areas are any less welcoming/hospitable when they have been nothing but both when you met them.

I know what you mean. I do some traveling for my company and usually I don't even have to tell them where I'm from, they just seem to know.
I was in Turkey recently and went to a traditional Turkish restaurant. When the waiter brought out the flat bread this is what they had done with the seeds that they put on top. Pretty cool.

You must not have visited Colorado yet. The #1 sport in Colorado is Texas bashing! They even sell bumper stickers that tell Texans to leave. As for folks from those other states loving Texans, maybe they're that friendly to everyone. I'd love to think they like Texans more, but most likely they're just great, friendly Americans!
PHfactor, I think we do hold ourselves (Texans) in a higher regard. I have a niece (by marriage) from Minnesota who hated the way we Texans are so proud of our state. I told he, "why not! We have a great and storied history!" She replied that Minnesota did, too. I told her that was great! She should be just as proud of Minnesota as I am of Texas! It's not Texas' fault that other state natives don't have pride in their own state! We're all Americans who should be proud of our heritage! Wherever one is from, they should be proud!
