    blood trailer

Ok so i am looking at getting a blood dog around july, august september time frame. I have it narrowed down to 4 diffrent breeds, want a little input and breeders. I have had beagles when i was younger so that is an option. Also have been reading alot of good things about Lacys and Black mouth curs. The last breed i chose just because of their known tracking ability, and their name Bloodhound. Lets hear what yall have to say. Aslo this will eb my first blood dog that i have trained, but my lab was my first retriever i have trained too and i got him his master hunter title at 2 yrs. What are some good books to read up on bloodtrailing dog training.

We have had two be beagles that would just amaze you and they are the perfect size for brush country tracking we always trailed on leash because they will not give up the trail

Yeah that was what i was thinking, i would always trail on a lead, hate chasing dogs, and have had a friend who had 2 curs that wouldnt quit and he lost one of them, he came wondering up to camp a week later

Jack Russells make good blood trail dogs. I'll have some pups ready to go in late August, September

How much room do you have? Do you want a dog you can throw in the front of the truck at times too? Blood hounds are big...

                              Lacy

I have a 7 month old Lacy. This dog is awesome. I'm training him now. He's picking it up really fast. He is really smart and has been a pleasure to train, he actually stays in the house with us at night, runs all over the ranch with us (but prefers riding in the cab). He is my 3rd blood dog. His predecessor is a Border Collie that is 7 years old and has over 120 deer to his credit. An excellent tracker. The other dog was a mut. She did okay but just got distracted to easily. She only had about 15 deer to her credit.
I do all the training myself. Good luck with your choice. I think breed has alot to do with it, but I also believe it depends on the dog and his will to please a master as well.
