Ever get tired of signing contracts with everybody??

I dont complain much, but little things really annoy me. I was wondering if other people get tired of always having to give out such personal information for everything? And for being required to sign contracts for everything?

And I'm not talking about business deals or anything big like that. I mean for stupid things. Like rental cars, storage units, cell phones, utilities etc etc etc. I got another storage unit the other day to keep some supplies, and I literally had an 8+ page contract that I had to sign. Every one of these contracts are 110% in favor of the company no matter what company or service your dealing with. They are not responsible for anything and they charge you for any and every little "service" or "inconvienance" that they experience.

What about us, the customer? Why are we always the one that has to bend over? I've thought many times about drawing up a contract, with things that I expect, and carrying it with me. Anytime somebody wants me to sign their contract, I say ok and pull out mine. Ask them to trade signatures. You think that would work?

I know everybody has these experiences and most of the time they arent worth thinking about or stressing over, but its hard not to get annoyed by it. Most companies have standard contracts that they get everybody to sign. Wouldnt it be nice if somebody created a consumer contract that people could buy and use when dealing with companies?

Do you really think anyone will rent you a car or rent you anything without a contract? Would you tunr over the keys to a $20,000 car to a perfect stranger without protecting your interest via a legal document that would give you the upper hand should something happen to your investment?

You don’t have to sign them. I have a storage building and the only thing I signed was a check. You can get a cell phone by the month and avoid a contract. Feel free to change the contract before you sign it and if they do not want to change it walk away.

I negotiate contracts at work a couple of times a week and it is all give and take. It will amaze you what you can get changed if the other party thinks you will walk away. But you have got to be willing to walk away.

These are business deals, for the guy renting them to you. I don't get your complaint???

Contracts are brutal. If sueing folks weren't allowed, there would be no need! If a handshake doesn't work, then settle it like good ole' boys.
