    They Got Me

Just got an automated red light ticket from the city of Little Elm. This is the third one I have gotten in my life. Just cut a check for $75 and mailed it to some agency in Cincinatti, Ohio.

Is this not one of the biggest scams going right now? I hate the fact that big brother is always watching and while this seems like a trivial thing it just opens the door for so much other crap where we can be monitored by technology.

Pretty soon they will start sending us tickets for speeding to.

I got 3 within 8 weeks. They put those things up in places where you can safely turn right on red and snatch $75 from you. It really sux but I stop obsessively at all red lights now.

Just to play devils advocate. Does anyone see stopping at red lights as an unusual inconvenience?

Cable that is funny. Drive too fast on the WV turnpike between tool booths and they will mail you a speeding ticket for sure!! I know because I got 4 of them one year while my roommate was driving my car!!

I don't blantantly run red lights. But when they throw a stop light on 380 when the speed limit is 70, well you can see where it might be difficult to stop in time and the safer thing at that point is to keep going rather than slam on your brakes so the dill behind you doesnt rear end you.

I had a family member get out of one of those tickets. Something about a private company sending you a fine and not the actual police department. I think there is a loop hole in the program that most people dont catch so they just pay the fine.

Too much government for my taste. What's next, cameras in neighborhoods so they can send you a ticket for spitting on the sidewalk???....

Sounds like a nice idea until they turn it into a collection agency.

Yes, about like eating and breathing. The way I see it, it's a fad that will be over with quickly...kind of like the internet.

Just got off the phone with my old man (also my attorney) to see if there was any validity to this school of thought. Negative. You will not be able to register the vehicle or renew your license if you have any of these tickets outstanding.

I wonder what the opinions would be if your children followed your rules the same way you follow traffic laws. (I'm sure they do ha ha). I'm just curious since there have been a lot of posts on this topic lately. Traffic laws we see as silly we try to ignore and complain about, but what if your children thought your rule was silly and ignored it as well? Would you have the same attitude? or would you find some form of punishment? Not trying to make anyone mad, just an honest question to get people thinking. I expect my son to obey all my rules the same way I'm expected to obey all traffic laws. When he doesn't he gets punished. When I don't I get punished. I guess most people just don't like "how" they got caught with cameras, but wouldn't you use cameras (if you could) to make sure your kids aren't breaking your rules when you aren't around?

I think it's absurd that you broke a law, got caught when you didn't think there was a cop in sight, and are now having to pay the fine for breaking that law that you thought you got away with!
