I'm trying to help a friends grandmother who is trying to sell some cattle. She wants to keep at least enough for the ag exemption in llano county. Does anyone know where I can find that information? Any help would be great. Thanks

My suggestion is to find out if you can do a wildlife valuation (exemption) and get rid of the cows unless she just wants to have cows. I did it 2yrs ago here at the house and they gave me a list of 7 things of which I had to do at least 3. One was to provide supplemental feed (feeder and food plot(s)) which I was already doing, built a bunch of blue bird houses and a wood duck box (provide shelters) and manage predators (hogs are on the list as well as coyotes and brown head cowbirds)
Real easy and I do not hve to deal with the headache of cows and it is cheaper than feeding cows too
Again, just a suggestion

Your county appraisal district (where you pay property taxes) has someone that can help you get teh forms and walk you through creating a "wildlife plan"

Section 23.51(2) Tax Code includes wildlife management in the definition of agricultural uses of land. Section 23.51(7) Tax Code defines wildlife management as:
Actively using land that at the time the wildlife management began was appraised as qualified open-space land under this subchapter in at least three of the following ways to propagate a sustaining breeding, migrating, or wintering population of indigenous wild animals for human use, including food, medicine, or recreation:
habitat control;
erosion control;
predator control;
providing supplemental supplies of water;
providing supplemental supplies of food;
providing shelters; and
making census counts to determine population.
Part One discusses the qualification of agricultural land used for wildlife management. Part Two discusses in detail the seven wildlife management activities listed in Section 23.51(7).
