    Transferring reservation bought through Expedia?

Long story short......last week I was trying to help a co-worker get a hotel room on the SA Riverwalk for last Friday night. Ended up on Expedia and bought a nice room at a nice hotel at a great price.....for this Friday night. All the paperwork says no changes, refunds, exchanges, transfers, blah, blah blah. I paid for my mistake but I'd like to cut my losses as much as possible by selling it to someone else. Anybody ever tried this with Expedia? The way I see it, they already have my money, what business is it of theirs who I let stay there? If someone besides the person that holds the reservation shows up to claim it (with proper reservation documentation) how likely is it that the hotel will refuse to let them stay?

    Anyone?

I don't see how/why they would care. As long as the person staying gives them the reservation name and a credit card to cover incidentals they shouldn't. I've booked for/through my dads name on expedia before and checked in and it caused me no hassle whatsoever. Good luck with this

Had a friend try something similar with an airline reservation he had made through Priceline. It was a no-go and he had to eat the $450 he paid for a r/t to Boston. I said the same thing, there was more than enough time (3 weeks) to change the name on the flight reservation, and the money was already paid.

Those companies aren't messing around when they say non-refundable/non-transferable.

            Call the hotel and ask.

The girl I got the room for called them when she realized I'd booked the wrong date and they were VERY unreceptive about anything to do with it. I'll probably try them again though.

I may be mistaken but I think this is strictly an airline thing because of national security. If I understand it right, they won't transfer the name of the reservation. On a flight, this becomes an issue because everyone has to be accounted for, however in a hotel situation (or at least in my experiences), if you have your documents, they won't care quite as much.

You're probably right, but i'd think that if the seat was already paid for and the replacement isn't on the no-fly list then they'd be alright.

If anybody wants to attempt to use this "paid for" room tonight, go for it.
