I Need Some Help

Who's not hunting this weekend and why. I need your story so I don't feel like the only one.

My story is that we have to do inventory. I'm a project manager for a company that builds oil well service equipment. They scheduled this about a month ago and I there's no way out. I do need to be there but man this sucks..

I am training to become a USAF SERE Specialist. Unfortunetely, I'll be in the "classified location" undergoing evasion training. I leave, from the looks of it, on sunday and will continue until around the middle of October. Sad part is, my dad and sister will be hunting while I am gone and a few days ago when my dad was sitting in my tripod checking it out, he had deer coming in on him. Talk about bringing a tear to my eye. Theres a big difference in going from hunting 3-4 times a week all season long last year to having to miss most of the season.

Now the good part, I graduate the first friday of december and should be home that weekend, getting a month of leave. Which means a really big trip to Brady and the Mcnutt ranch. Also, the rut should be kicking in, maybe . Plus, I have a new bow that needs some blood.

I am stationed at Holloman afb New Mexico. That's why I am not hunting. I only get to hunt in Texas about 3 days a year on the average

Its better than being cold, I love the heat. Its too cold up here, and its summer time! Best thing ever was last week when I woke up in Montana during a whitewater training trip and my wet suit was frozen, yes frozen stiff. Was halarious up until the point I had to put that sucker on .

Good luck Bowhuntamistad with S.E.R.E, just an F.Y.I (sorry couldn't let it go) but Fairchild, AFB WA isn't too classified. One quick google will give you every S.E.R.E school out there. I was at Camp Mackall (Fort Bragg) for my SF training.

Cause I just had a knee replacement on Aug 1 and nothing but problems. Been in the hospital 2 more times, and now have a Wound Vac attached to the big hole in my knee that, as my wife puts it, breaking wind, every five minutes.

I've been waiting on this all year and would not think about missing it. Esxcept I started coughing mon. and if it doesn't get better tomorrow I don't think I could get a deer within 200yds of me much less 20. So I'm still on the fence if I'm going to make it to the stand or not.

Everybody knows where the SERE school is. Its where we're doing our evasion training thats a little hush hush. Seeing the different theaters of war nowadays has caused a big change from the past location. Should be fun though.

I'll be working. I'm in the middle of an eighteen day stretch with only one day off. I'm not complaining though, it's going to pay for two trips to Kansas.
