Wierd Observation?

Was bass fishing today and watched some gators go for anything that came along the shore....shore birds..ducks and even 2 labs that jumped in the water for a swim. 1 nearly lost its life by a hair.. litterly. It was a national geo moment to say the least.
Later on this evening I watched beavers swim right by the gators and the gators didn't even move????? Why didn't they go for the beavers? Is there some type of mutaul contract between gators and beavers?
