    Dance classes/lessons- DFW?

I have been looking at Arthur Murrays, I see there is one on Plano which us real convenient. Anyone have any experience there?

    Thanks!

What kind of dance lessons - Ballroom, Country, Competition, Club Dancing? From what I heard about Arthur Murray years ago was that they try to sell you on their package deals - pretty expensive. If you just want to learn to dance in the clubs, the country bars ususally have free (or cheap) lessons. I don't think you're likely to find free ballroom lessons. There are probably some of the "non-franchised" studios around that might be cheaper. I took private lessons and did the C&W competitions for about 5 years, but I'm not familiar with the studios in your part of town. Depending on what your looking for, I can ask around. Good luck - it's addicting!

Just wanna learn some basic fundamentals on timing and steps. I am one of the types not so blessed with rythym. Of course, after a bout 6 longnecks I think I am Kevin Bacon out there on the floor!

Fiance and I wanna do some lessons together and start dancing for real

Our neighbors have done the Auther Murray thing for years now and they have a blast with it.

Try to find a studio nerby that offers group classes. They are usually pretty reasonable and you can get the basics from them before commiting to anything else. Here's a link to places to dance & studios:

I know a great instructor in the Richardson area. It is a small class with typically 4 to 6 couples. Right now they meet on Monday nights from 8 - 9 pm. Country dances mostly: Progressive, Two-step, East coast swing, West coast swing, Waltz, Three-step.

PM me if you would like her contact information.

There is a place here in Wylie, Majestic Ballroom and Dance, Belinda Hockett is the owner and she will take care of you. Small place, good people. (214)755-9359, tell her Jeremy Stone sent you and she will most likely give you a great deal.

the way my girlfriend and I learned was going to youtube watching the videos and doing them untill we get them right. doesn't take much time, fairly easy, FREE, and helps. all you have to have is someone to dance with, also a lot of instructional videos on youtube about different dances. What we learned in a few days would of taken a month of lessons to get down.
                        Hope that helps

I used to work for Arthur Murray when I was young and single in San Antonio and Austin. They will try and up sale you on an expenisive program to learn. If you have the money it is worth going through a professional company if you think you want to do this long term. If you are just wanting some basics check out the local community colleges. They all usually offer a beginers dancing class. Small studios can be a little less expensive as well......
