Which rifle scope zeiss conquest vs. leupold?

I'm looking for a 4.5-14x50mm. I can't decide between the Zeiss Conquest and the Leupold VXIII Long Range. They are the same price for the features I'd get with each. The Zeiss has a 1 inch tube vs. the Leupold's 30 mm. It seems like the Zeiss crosshairs are a little easier to see, but I like the Leupold's Boone and Crockett reticle. Which would you choose and why?

Good question...I REALLY like Leupold but that Conquest is VERY tempting. I would be anxious to hear what you end up going with and how you like it.

I have the Conquest you are looking at with a mil dot reticle on my 204 ruger that I am very pleased with.

I have the Conquest....good scope for sure but......have you looked at the Nikon Monarch UCC with the BDC reticle? They are all good and don't think you would be disappointed with any.

I have a Eagle Eye Optics 4x16x50 on my Weatherby. It has coated lenses, clear as a bell, let's in a ton of light, 1" tube but I know it's available with 30mm tube also, shock proof, fog proof, water proof, lifetime guarantee, adjustable paralax, adjustable rear focus, illuminated milldot reticles. He threw in flip up scope covers and an extra battery or two for the illuminated reticles (takes those nickle sized watch batteries). Awesome for hogs & deer. I've had my weatherby bouncing around on the 4-wheeler and shot numerous rounds through it and it's still on the money! I would put it up against the high dollar scopes any day. My brother-in-law introduced me to it by letting me fill my doe tag with his CZ 270 WSM with the same scope. I shot a doe at 500 yards. The next year I shot one at the end of shooting light at 350 yards. He swears by them and it's the only one he'll buy nowadays. Same with me. Buying a CZ .300 WSM Model 3 and will have the same scope on that one too. Shipping and everything, I think I paid 175.00! Several other guys at work saw mine and have also purchased them too. Well worth the money. I have no affiliation but love the scope and trust it more than any of my previous scopes. It's a very small company (mom & pop shop) in Arizona - it's made in America. Check it out. Google Eagle Eye Optics then go to Riflescopes. Mine is the 4x16x50 black matte with 1" tube and illuminated milldot reticle. You'll never see me shelling out 600 bucks for a scope again. Good luck on your search but check them out if you want. Again, they're not paying me...I'm just impressed with the scope.

Reading the debates on other forums is as bad as Mathews vs. Bowtech. They are saying that the 30mm tube still has 1" lenses inside?

Never shot the Zeiss but the leupold is hands down the greatest rifle scope for the money. Only scope i'll ever put on one of my deer rifles would be a swarovski. I've never had one single problem with a leupold. My family and I combined probably have/had 20 different leupold scopes.

                  Apples and oranges.
The Conquest is Ziess's low-end scope and the VX-III is one of leupold's higher end scopes. If you had to pick one, go with the Leupold. If you are looking at all optionns, look at the Nikon MOnarch.

Optically they are very close for the same price.

Zeiss has great glass but for the money you will not beat a Leupold. CLEAR Glass..Here is the one I have on my LTR..It's a fixed 12x.

I just went through this choice with a friend. I honestly think it's 6 to one/half dozen to the other. Go with your gut and be happy.
