    16x16 patio slab

Me and they wife are looking at slowly building a covered patio. First step is a slab. I'm looking for app. a 16x16 slab attached to the current porch, and boxed out on two sides for BBQ grill and (future) fire pit. We're in Midlothian and looking for contractors and a cost estimate. If anyone knows anybody, let me know.. Thanks

between $4 AND $5 per sq foot is the going rate in the Houston area.

You may get prices a little higher than that. It's a relatively small job so contractors are gonna have to make it worth their time. Might consider forming and laying your own steel.

When you say boxed out on two sides what do you mean exactly?

When I say boxed out I mean a small extension say 3x4 that will eventually be for a grill or such and would not be covered by the roof.

Get some day labor who do concrete work but DO NOT go the bag concrete route with that size pad you will pay more.

I come up with 2.782 yds of concrete without counting a small shovel footing around the edges. 1yd covers 92sq ft at 3.5in thick. You might could do it yourself with one of the readymix concrete trlr's. I believe they can hold 2yds ea and if you have a ready plant close that does that, that is how I would go.

                            You,and I both! That's why I let Allen's crew handle all that.

If you were a little closer I could fix you up, I would say that you are looking at about 1500.00 to get a good contractor to do it.
