    Calling all Texas Exes

No hijakin, non orange bloods...(y'all are welcome to join in)

    Here's the scoop:

My parents are bigtime in with the Exes organization, Host Commitee/ UT Ambassadors, etc.

They give a memorial scholarship in my sister's name every year, and last year an incredible young lady named Lindsey Carmichael won the scholarship. She's a para-olympian in archery. Lindsey became fast friends with our family and is truly an amazing person to get to know.

SO...here's where you/we come in. Mom and dad want to do something to raise $ for the UT archery program. I didn't get the whole story, but PM me for Mom's numbers if you're interested in contributing. I'm imaginging, you'd be donating directly to the program, but Mom has more details. I'll post more as she tells me. She popped by my classroom this afternoon and wanted me to shout out to you guys and gals and see what y'all thought.

You can read about my parents and sister in the March/April issue of the Alcalde. I haven't read it yet (need to find my magazine), but it'll have something to do with Ellen Engler Burks (my sister) and I'm sure her scholarship.

    Gracias, and Hook-Em!

    Here's more...

She wants ideas in ways to raise money for the archery program. The practice and hold meets in the basement of an old gym, and it's not reflective of a major univ.

Lindsey is super busy and mom wants to help...

Here's a quick idea...if you can get someone to make some burnt Orange arrow wraps with either Bevo or UT, or even the UT Exes logo I bet some of us would buy them..proceeds could go to the program...

Now, I'm a graduate of A&M, so you orange-bloods are strange creatures to me. However, you could get a local range to host a benefit shoot for the program. Maybe offer some of that logo'd gear for prizes. Proceeds go to the program and all.

I know several of the A&M sports clubs do that at local places, and all the local joints here are glad for the free advertising. My business has sponsored a few. It works for us here in Aggieland!

Good luck to you, and GIG 'EM!

As a member of the Exes, I will gladly donate to this cause. PM me the details of who and where.

My sons friend is the editor of the Alcalde. I would think that as large as the Exes Association is, you would get donations submitted from something placed in the Alcalde. I am sure Tim would work with her on this endevour.

It is all about getting the word out that this is a worthy cause and needs support from the Association.

              Good luck and Hook 'em!
