programmers for diesels....should i get one?

and which one? 2010 dodge diesel 2500 4x4. I just want to see about getting better fuel mileage. I dont know anything about these programmers and such.... Oh and i dont want to spend a ton of $$$ nor get something that might mess my truck up I dont have vanillas money nor do i have smarts dad!!!

Mine has paid for itself, many times over, JUST in the fuel savings.
I still get around 20 mpg, on the highway, even with the lift and tires.

I know some guys who run the banks six gun. It is pretty mean when it comes to power, but can say on the gas. The guys I know always have their foot in the floor. Check out the BullyDogs too. They have been pretty popular lately for diesels as well as gas.

I ran the Banks 6 gun on both my 04' and 05' dodge's, it did help with the fuel mileage.... Again, probably a dinosaur these days... What I have learned about the aftermarket performance products is, if you got a heavy foot, don't put any programmers on your truck unless you modify several other things too (tranny, air, exhaust, etc, etc.), unless you like working on it or having it in the shop. Just my experiences here, but I have a heavy foot...

If you want to save money on fuel you will have to delete the DPF - on my Ford it was as simple as pulling the o2 sensor - unbolting the DPF and putting in a straight pipe in place - it felt like a completely different truck and is the only way to see noticeable gains with the newer diesels equipped with the DPF.

DPF delete, and a mild tuner will make it a whole different truck. I've got a Quadzilla Stealth 2. It's not as fancy as some (not as expensive either), but it allowed me to ditch the DPF.

Negative - bullydog does not offer a tuner that deletes the DPF - neither does Banks.

If you don't delete the DPF you really are just wasting money.
