Mechanic/ gearhead question

Ok guys, got a question about intake/ exhaust. Just bought a 08 evolution, and it has an aftermarket 3" catback exhaust. My question is, if I put the stock exhaust back on,(2.5" or so) will I be getting too much back pressure? ( has aftermarket intake). To me, it seems like the car won't really be breathing any differently because the exhaust has to pass through the cat, which restricts the airflow before it hits the 3" pipe. Thought a fellow tbh'r would know. Thanks

If you still had the factory cat on it, it will not matter, as a matter of fact i think, you will get better overall (and i high light overall)performance with the stock stuff than the aftermarket. You should be ok to put the stock exhaust back on.

You will be ok. A intake does not require a aftermarket exhaust.

I'd b willing to bet that the car doesn't need a bigger exhaust. I had 3" on a hot rodded big block.
