    I Quit!!

Man is this hard! I am on day one of my endeavor to quit chewing!! I have wanted to stop for a long time, but I figure no time like the present! Do any of the Green Screen Brothers have any advice or tips to help!! I am truly committed this time, but the urge is very strong, when does this go away? I don't expect it to ever totally go away, but when will the nicotine headaches quit!!

Good luck man, i think a few days and they'll be gone. If you can make it past that I think it'll get easier by the day.

Until it does it's gonna get progressively harder, you try the patch to cut the edge?

Good luck man! That ol' nicotine is a b**ch but it DOES go away. 4 years quit for me and so glad I did. Hang in there! Supposedly cravings only last a few minutes. Don't you HATE going in the store and plopping $5+ for a can!? Take that money and pay for your deer lease.

I've tried several times. Sometimes I even make it a few weeks, but then I fall back into it. I'm about to try again. Good luck!!

it took about 3 days for the headaches/grouchiness to go away. But the hardest part is everything you associate dip with. It was a habit for me to put a dip in when i would work outside, or fish/hunt, drive, etc.. It was very tough to overcome that, but i did it with LOTS of gum. I would constantly chew gum. The cravings became less and less & i eventually stopped craving it all together. It will take several months however. Good luck

mint snuff helps...for me it was a few days of skitzin for the nicotine.....after that it was just a habitual thing...cups needed to be spit in, convenience stores needed to be stopped at, when manual labor was required, snuff was needed...lol....

tried the sunflower seeds...went through too many, tried the straw, cinnamon toothpicks....only thing that might have helped other than pure desire to quit was the mint snuff....that and the fact that I just had some basil cell carcinoma cut off my cranium....and a 3 year old Daughter helped a bit as well.....

just post on here when you think you're gonna pop....we'll set ya straight...

No kidding! $5+ a can! It is either quit or give up something else! And I like my toys to much!

Sunflower seeds until my toungue bled did it for me. I quit 7 years ago on the way home from Bownwnza. I had a bad toothache and still had a chew in. I was chewing 2 packs of Levi Garrett a day.

I did finally quit the sunflower seeds too.

I quit around 2002 for a whole year on a request from my oldest girl. Quit cold turkey. Carried an unopened tin in my pocket and defeated that monster. For a time. Then I started back up again because I guess I proved to myself I could quit. My next quit wasn't so easy to handle.

Here is the story behind the quit that stuck. I now go into schools and such to talk about the possible dangers of smokeless. No one said it would happen to everyone and anyone who dips but it happened to me.

Determination to beat the addiction is paramount. YOU HAVE TO WANT TO QUIT ! Not for your wife or kid or because of work. FOR YOURSELF !! Within 72 hours of your quit you have pretty much rid your body of nicotine. From there on out it is a head game. Do you want to be a slave or a free man? I know, sounds corny. But this is an addiction and addictions make you a slave to them.

You can get stuff like Smokey Mountain chew or Bacc Off if you need the oral fix. Hard candy, gum, jerky...... and on and on.

Also, I have given this out in here before and had no issues but there is a site devoted to quitters..... Kill the Can has been around a while and quitters from all over go on there daily to sign roll and create an accountability. Perhaps it would help you also. And finally, I am more than willing to help you in your quit journey. All you have to do is ask.

Good luck and STAY QUIT amigo !
