That was a long time ago! Leaving Friday for Mardi Gras, it's going to be a seafood fest! Plan on some crawfish along with crabs, shrimp, and oysters!

Boiled a sack last week. Got them from a farm in Tyler. $3.99/bag and they were actually pretty good size. Fiesta said they would start getting them in this week. Cooking some more next week. Price is high right now, but you can't beat eating crawfish in February!

Wish they were still considered bait. Loved it when they were a quarter a pound live. Good luck with the boil. As soon as Good Friday passes they usually drop in price. The only problem then is that they are usually VERY hard shelled.
All this talk about crawfish means I'm going to have to go and boil some up this weekend. Anyone giving out loans???

Folks, the last two weeks of warm weather has helped the crawfish situation considerably. Most farmers are reporting good increases in catch, and I would expect that to only continue. Rain has been sparse however, requiring a lot of pumping, and farmers are concerned about fuel costs -- as are haulers. Not sure how price will shake out but you should see more and more crawfish on the market over the next serveral weeks, including selections of larger crawfish.

            Good eating!

We has a boil and gator fry here in Louisville and we spent like $2.50 a pound for a 40lb sack. Add shipping and its $6 a pound. We also had some gator and boundin. I showed these Yankees how to pass a guud time sha!!

^^^ this man knows his stuff

ponds have to have water for crawfish to grow.... it's been a long time since we had rain here in South Louisiana. Farmers have to use diesel to pump water into ponds, thus increasing crawfish prices. Fisherman use boats which run on gas as this also escalates the price paid by the consumer

prices will come down soon as we will have a late or longer crawfish season
