Just thinking out loud and trying to offer up suggestions, I sure don't want to see TBH go away any time soon.

The site does just fine with you ladies and gentlemen buying an occasional cap, shirt or koozie. There is no need to solicit donations. Thanks for all the support.

One of the main concerns, at least mine anyway, has been losing the look and feel of the site with a move to the latest version of the vbulletin software. We're hoping to maintain it, at a minimum, while hopefully improving as we move.

    I blame PETA!!!!!!
Hopefully this will cure what ills us. It really is no fun battling these issues.

Please fix it. When gas hits $5 a gallon next month I'll be spending more time on the green screen

I already sent in some money for the bownanza shirts and koozies I ordered for pick up...if there are any extra 2X's left over, I'll snag a couple or get some other impulse buy goodies.

I really don't understand half of what was mentioned on the post as I'm a pc doofus...to me, no apology is necessary. I'm sure the staff wants the site running as much or more than the members.

I am fairly new to the site. I have come to look forward everyday to getting on the GS and see what is going on and what new info is out there. I have learned quite a bit. Thanks for having this site and thanks for the explanation even though it was not necessary.

            Appreciate what yall do.

*** Disclaimer!! I know absolutely NOTHING about servers, BB's, Websites, etc... ***

Would it be possible to archive/back-up the site every hour, or 6 hours, or 12 hours instead of once every 24 hours?
I'm just thinking that it would be a good stop gap measure (until the server switch happens) to reduce the number of lost posts during these mini-crashes.

I have no idea if this is possible, or what the cost or time involved would be. I just figured that, knowing how much people who are working their butts off love getting unsolicited advice, I'd throw that out there.

              You're welcome.

Sounds like good news overall. Just curious but will everything be on a LAMP stack at the end?

Would compound problem in a way. These are huge datasets and it's quite a load on the system to execute the backups. Note: not involved in this directly just providing reasonable info based on experience.

Our company is in the 100% uptime realm so I understand the cost and time it takes to ensure a fully functioning website regardless of the problems the electron gods throw at you. I am afraid it's really going to require a root problem indentification before you can ensure Anything you do is going to fix the problem. If it's the program itself causing the DB corruption it's not going to help even if you get some replication going on. Sounds like you have some good guys working on it and hope it all comes together here soon. Good luck and thanks for the great forum.

Scott/Michael/Jon Paul - IS the backend a SQL database?
