Make sure you have your disposal plans taken care of, because it is illegal to dispose of ashes on public land or in inland bodies of water. If it is on private land, this must be disclosed when selling the land.
I want to be chopped up and chummed to bears. I want to give back. I bet I couldn't get my wife to do that though.
Am I the only one that read the title as "When I die, take OFF shark79s post"??? I was truly interested in finding the post that made someone so PO'd that they would request its removal when he died! Amazing how the title could be misinterpreted without that tiny word 'of'.
Great thread btw and I'm still not sure about what I would want to do with my belongings and body. Great ideas fellas- keep them coming!
My spirit will be gone from body so don't make much difference what or where the corpse goes! When I checkout I want all evidence of my presence destroyed, written words burned, photo's the same...want it to be like I was never there! If someone has memories of me that is their choice and freewill...doubt there will be alot of slow walking and tears on my behalf...enless I owed someone money. Nobody thought of me before I arrived in December of 62 so no need in thinking of me when I cease becoming a PIA.
I have not heard of that, but I guess you can... but why go to the expense of embalming just to cremate the body after that?
Perhaps have the ashes in a camo painted urn as Bassinking suggests?
I'm a Texas funeral director, and it is true you DO NOT have to be embalmed in Texas, but unfortunately most funeral homes in Texas has a policy in place for public viewing in their business, is to have the remains embalmed.
ยง 716.304. SCATTERING REMAINS. A person may scatter
cremated remains over uninhabited public land, over a public
waterway or sea, or on the private property of a consenting owner,
if the remains are reduced to a particle size of one-eighth inch or
less. Unless the container is biodegradable, the cremated remains
must be removed from the container before being scattered.
I myself scatter about 2000 lbs of cremains a year in the gulf out of Galveston. As for cremation, we encourage a funeral (it's for the living) and instead of going into the ground, your put into the retort. Also, I have seen almost everything you can imagine placed, worn, or what ever else in a casket. One thing about death, you never know how it will effect someone.
