When the power is out and it's super windy outside

Annoy the wife by shooting inside the apartment. Only could shoot at 10 yards, from the front door to the back of the dining room, but it was fun. Blew up another cat whisker. I think I'm going to only tie those on for hunting because they don't ever seem to last more than around 100 shots.

When there's a will, there's a way! I found out if I shoot from the kitchen instead of the front door I can get an extra 5 yards.

That's awesome man! Not to hijack, but I have a question about your cat whiskers. How are you tying them on? Mine are served into the string, between strands, and they have lasted for a long time. Secondly, if you practice without them, I would worry about changing POI while hunting when you tied them back on.

I don't serve mine in. I do the poof ball and tie them on with a double constrictor knot and then a surgeons knot. They slide toward the nocking point after probably 20 shots, I slide it up, and then after about 100 they kind of explode. I've been tying them on with serving thread but I'm lazy and never burn the ends. I wonder if my knot is just failing. Thing is whisper quiet when they are on.

I shoot my recurve in my apt every day. 9 yards.

I'm also wondering how you tie your cats in. On my compound, I just tied the in a knot around the outside of the string...didn't even bother to serve into the string....and they've lasted years.

Are your whiskers flat rubber or round rubber? I've been using round rubber...can't find flat anywhere.

Found the thread in my last explosion. It was the knot that failed. I'm going to try another method of tying, and also burn the ends.

I tried the way you are describing several times, even had the bow shop tie them on and they still slid like yours, but didn't explode. With them sliding up and down, I could see a definite difference in my accuracy. I finally asked the bow shop owner how to stop that and he put the bow in a press and split the string, folded the whiskers a time or two and slipped them between the two halves of my string. He then served them in tight, pulling the serving knots together on the string to make them poof out a little. I've not had a problem since. Improved accuracy, quieter shots and no more sliding.

I can get 12 yards in side my apt. I have plenty of room to shoot outside but I wouldn't last for 5 minutes before the cops showed

I used to shoot inside (right at 20 yards). Til I hit a soft spot in the target and knocked a hole in the back door. Oops

My old apartment had 27 yard shot in it with a wall that was not adjoining another apartment. I put a 2 pieces of 3/4 plywood behind and practiced daily.
