So, my affection for my 4 month old son got me thinking.....

When is it too old to kiss your son on the mouth? Strange question I guess, but if he is talking, then I ain't kissing him on the mouth anymore When is it tabboo to kiss your son at all?

Of course, he acts as if he doesn't like it already. Ha Ha

I would say its never "Taboo" to kiss your son. My sons are 20, 17, and 11 and all of them will kiss me on the cheek and ill do the same. Your affection for your son will only get stronger and it will just come naturally.

Kissing on the mouth generally stops the first time he pukes on you when your kissing him. Seems like around 4-5, for sure when they start school. Still kiss my son on the cheek once in a while and he is 27.

my son is 4 and will be 5 in March, I stopped kissing my son directly on the mouth when he was just about to turn 4. Having said that, I kiss my son everyday as I leave and come home or if I visit him at school: directly on the side of the mouth near the beginning of the cheek.

School kids can be evil and I did not want to put him in a situation where he could get in trouble fighting for receiving a kiss from his dad "directly on the mouth." He is pretty good with his hands and he doesn't need anymore fuel to his little flame.

Now that I think about it, I tend to kiss him on the forehead abunch when we are at practice, school or at the field.

I am not a taboo or superstition fearing guy; (although I do beleive in carma the same way I beleive in receiving the Lord's blessing for a kind act.) So I kiss my son all the time, just not directly on the mouth anymore.

Lastly, If I have to send my son off to greener pastures or claim him as mine before the sheet is placed over him; I would kiss him on the mouth one last time.

I love your logic and can understand the love that a man has for a son Thanks for the reply.

I can't remember my dad every kissing me, he is my best friend and I am sure he did when I was a baby, but I have no recollection of this every happening.

Seriously, I don't think I have ever kissed my boy or girl on the mouth. Just not my thing.

Good question snipe. I was pondering the same thing with my daughter who is 2 1/2 now just the other day. She always wants to kiss me on the mouth when I leave or come home. Lately I have been telling her to kiss me on the cheek and I kiss her forehead. Not sure what the norm is though. Oh yeah, she does not like to kiss my beard. I better shave!

                            Well said!
My son is 6 - still kiss him.
My Father is 62 - still kiss him.
                            Love has no taboos IMO.
