A little ebay schoolin' to be safe...

So I have been looking around for another WRT54GS to tinker with...found this one:

had been watching it...had it on my sweat list....it's about to go off so I went back to see what it was doing....hmmm...no bids, $.99, $10.....that would work....

Then I ask myself, why is no one biddong on this one...did I find a mislabeled auction or something?

I look up at the seller's id and his feedback and feedback rating...111/97.1%....ok, he's been here a while but he has some dings...let's look at the feedback...

    hmmmm.....interesting....

Fast shipping but router doesnt work.. Thanks 250747881553 Jan-08-11 08:43

router did not work, was shipped in empty box, no packing material 250734426994 Dec-10-10 03:10

Think I will stay away from this one.....

just some little hints on dealing with ebay items and how to try and stay away from a potential headache....

looks like all his good feedback was from buying, not selling.

I tend to stay away from ebay for anything sensative. last think i ordered was a ceramic christmas tree my wife had been looking for. Was shipped in a box that was the thickness of about 5 sheets of paper and wrapped in kroger bags. Needless to say it did not ship well. No response from the seller even after negative feedback.

if you can't get any satisfaction out of the seller, in this case, contact a mod and plead your case, ask for any assistance they can provide....

Time to rat him out. We will smoke him out of his hole!

Always beware on Ebay. I check on all sellers before placing bids and still got burned on some really crappy allen wrenches!

(.5 look on TBH first, then craigslist)

                        1. if they are not in the the US, don't buy from them unless it is that once in a lifetime item that you never see anywhere and you can verify authenticity of person via other means.

                        2. if it comes from Kalifornia, shy away from those 'ports' where all the Asiatic merchandise comes in.....

                        3. if the seller has stupid high feedback...you are just a number...you will get your item when you get your item, if you don't and it takes three weeeks to refund your money, he doesn't give a @$U% about your bad feedback

                        4. look local....many times you can pick up in person and save a little on shipping and or save a little mail time and potential destruction by our forklift wielding, box putting, priority kicking into the proper gurney, taxpayer funded postal swervice...lol (no harm meant...just how I feel...lol)

                        5. always pay with paypal...yeah, I know they suck this and suck that and do it with a wiffle ball bat but hey, at least you have more protection with your purchase than not

                        6. insurance is CHEAP comparatively speaking, spend the couple extra bucks tightwad (not directed at you KFed) and make sure it gets there...some sellers nowadays are choosing to fake the shipment if no insurance is purchased...'I sent it, it must be lost...no insurance..sorry'....

                        7. if you have a problem with a seller...never hurts to contact the local popo....in 10 plus years on flebay, a couple times I was dealing with a seller who was playing games...figured what they hay, look up his local popo, shoot them an email and see what happens....everytime I was either refunded within the week or got my item within the week...lol

I am sure there are more...but I have a cookie to eat....

If it is less than $20,000 you have buyer protection on eBay. I have bought many items including a King Ranch 4x4 and have sold more cars than I can count on eBay.

It takes a bit to understand the secrets on eBay but it is a gold mine!
