Best weather I've ever had on the water...

too bad the fish weren't there. I just couldn't take it so I pulled my boy out of school and headed down south with my buddy. Man it was cold. We hit the water around 9:30 Saturday morning with clear blue skies and flat water.

Everything about the morning screamed fish...We ground it out all day with nothing to show for it but a foul hooked mullet. I did run up on a couple of flounder one of which I saw bedded before it ran off. I tried to slowly put my plastic across his path but he was onto me and was off to deep water before I could try again. Sunday was an even better day but I guess the water was still too cold and no fish ever came to the dinner bell.

All in all it was a great weekend with my boy since it was his first time wade fishing. I told him that he was paying his dues and the rewards would come soon enough.

Would have rather been out there fishing than at work last weekend. Better luck next time.

The fishing wasn't any better here in central Texas on Granger Lake either. My wife, our guide and I were on the water from 9am to 5:45pm Saturday. We took home a blue cat and 2 whites thanks to our guides jug lines and his skill but neither of us even had a bite the whole day. The water is just to cold after the last couple of weeks of freezing temps.

No fish on my trip Sunday either, but we still had fun.

we also ground it out in beautiful water with 3 little ones- we finally hit deep water rocks and let them burn through the shrimp. All they cared about was getting their line pulled and we did manage a handful of reds and one keeper. We did see lots of dead fish on the reefs- water was gin clear and I could see the bottom in 6 foot.

A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work!!!!

It was tough on Buchanan Sunday. Managed a couple of whites and that was it. Water was 47-48 degrees.
