In all seriousness anyone posting on this thread about their 700s being faulty. Send me a PM with a description of the gun and what you are asking for it. I may very well be interested in buying it at a fair market price being that it is faulty and you seem to have concerns about it being a safe firearm. Outside of the safety issue they must be clean well taken care of guns for me to be interested.

NO scientific evidence has ever supported an accidental discharge on an un-altered 700 and it has NEVER been duplicated.

All the "accidental discharges" are only he said she said. This has NEVER been reproduced in a documented situation.

I think years and generations speak for themselves. Sorry but I don't believe your gun has gone off on its own. If so, then you would be the first in over 50 years of production and I suggest you show it to Remington. If not, I know several people including myself that will purchase this defective item for cheap.

If you were closer I would surely put up my Remmy .308 against you, heck I wouldnt even break out the handloads. But 100 yards, c'mon I outgrew the kiddie end of the pool a long time ago. Lets stretch it on out past 600...

Honestly you cant go wrong with either. They both make a great rifle, but my loyalty has and always will be (well most likely) with remington.

I have had to send 2 Rem 700 300 WSM back to Remington for work. One would go off when closing the bolt. The other would fire when switching from safety to fire. I can assure you that I never did anything to either trigger or anything else for that matter. That was the way they both were out of the box. When I contacted Remington, the rep said they knew what the problem was and sent me boxes to send them in. Since getting them back, I haven't had a problem with either one. Clearly this is not coincidental.

I was just trying to make it fair. If thats the case though let's go to 800 and I will bring my PSS chambered in .308 with my beautiful Shilen Barrel. The .308 is , in my opinion, still the best round for long range shooting.

Sako Finnlight gets'er done every time, no fiddling with the trigger necessary. Not nearly as purdy as a 700, but its safe.
