Sepulveda is an awesome dude. An incredible Christian and a great representative for Baylor. He suffered his second torn ACL of his career this year. Fingers crossed that he'll bounce back next year. He won his second Ray Guy award after tearing his ACL the first time.

I was brought up believing I am third

            God first
            Others second
            I am third.

He is an awesome return kick preventer too. Would't mind having him on my prayer team as well.

Not to detract from the true importance of this thread (Sepulveda's faith in Christ), but he's a pretty good football player too. In addition to winning the Ray Guy Award for the nation's best punter (at Baylor), he can do this when covering his own kicks...

You're two steps ahead of the target audience . Pulled this off the internet.

"Dear ***, Thank you for your email concerning "I am Second" vs. "I am Third". Please allow me to share our thoughts. Janet, I am including you so you too can be aware even though we talked about this.
I have had people ask me why it is I Am SECOND rather than I Am Third. God first, others second, self third. I think there are, however, some legitimate reasons for titling the movement I Am Second...
                    1) Each person is a member of humanity, which is collectively second to God. As Nate Larkin said, coming face to face with his sin forced him to join the human race. So it does not necessarily relegate 'others' to third. That would be reading too much into it.
                    2) The Bible says to love others as you love yourself. Loving others well goes hand-in-hand with loving ourselves - not in a selfish way, but in an accurate way. We need to see ourselves the way God sees us just as much as we need to see others the way God sees them.
                    3) Consider the audience. This site was designed for people who have never even thought of putting something first in their lives other than themselves. They are second to none. So the idea of placing something else in first place is new and a significant bridge to cross. It is step one. iamsecond.com never claims to contain sufficient material to equip us to turn around and live lives that reflect God perfectly. That is why they refer to churches. That kind of growth is a process that involves being in community with people, not just reading a website. The website has chosen to tackle step one of many.
                    4) ..and perhaps most important: We need to bear in mind that there is another kind of second... Only when Christ is first can we raise ourselves and others up to a position of which neither you nor I are worthy: second. And yet...that's just what Christ offers. It is an unbelievable honor - to be second - complete with joy and beauty that can't even be tasted by people who settle for putting anything else first in their lives but Christ. In Revelation, He offers us thrones, that we may reign with Him. He will place crowns on our heads. We are bought and paid for, our sins are eradicated. When the Father looks at us, he sees Christ's perfection. So for those who know him, the Bible says that we are headed straight for honor. What? That blows my mind. We are so unworthy.
So...third? maybe. It just depends on which perspective you're coming from. Regardless, it does not nullify the validity of the movement's title. It works. And it does not contradict the Bible. We are dealing with a culture that strives for "me first".
...but that's just my perspective, friends.
                    Bless you,

I think it is a great movement. It has the potential to reach some that might not otherwise have an interest in God.

                    I am second.
