need recomendations on what scope to get for a .223

i bought a cva .223 single shot rifle from academy and i am looking for a decent scope for under 100$. i plan on using this gun to shoot varmints, crows, etc...was leaning towards a lighted reticle for night hunts.



Barska 3-12x50 Riflescope w/ 30/30 Illuminated Reticle- found this one and sounds decent, my main concern is that it may look too big on my gun.

any help would be appreciated...thanks

You may want to take a look at the Centerpoint scopes at Walmart. I have a buddy that has one and it was like 79 bucks and has a lighted reticle. It is hard to get a decent scope in that range but he has had it on a .270 and now his 6.5 Grendel and it has held up. Also watch Cabela's sales. They had Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32 and 3-9x40 scopes on sale for $99. I picked up the 2-7 power one (which is really a shotgun scope) and put it on my AR-15 carbine. So far it has been a decent scope.

I understand that you WANT to spend 100 bux. I personally believe the optics make the rifle. I have trashed a lot of 100 dollar scopes and wont buy em any more. I buy Leupold they are guaranteed for a lifetime and run the gammit of prices. Rifleman for their cheapest or the VX's and Mark 4 for their highest. Its all I will ever buy now and if anything goes wrong you send it back and they fix it or replace it even if your not the original owner. My brothers sling came lose last year and his gun hit pretty hard on the ground and messed up the 1980's model leupold scope. Had it back from leupold in a few weeks all better no cost to us.
Spend the extra money and never look back. With price comes Quality.

Decent for under $100

pentax are supposedly made by burris. i got one on my AR and just a quick sight in and some plinkin with it, i have been very impressed with it. my dads 30 year old scope fell apart around thanksgiving and he went and bought the same pentax since he was very impressed with it as well. he was punching silver dollar sized groups at 100yds in 10-12 shots with it on his 30-06

well i paid a total of 200$ for the gun and plan to use it as a beater...so im not planning on puttin 200 or 300$ worth of optics on it...thanks red that scope looks good
