It gets below zero up here at least a few times a year, and the coldest I have ever been was in San Antonio a few years ago and it was 32 degrees. Its definitely different down there when its cold. But you have to admit, we handle the snow a little better!

Well I can tell you this...I grew up on the bayou in South Louisiana and moved to Louisville 6 years ago. We moved into our house on Apr 30 and it was 58 degrees. We thought we were going to die. We had thick coats and long sleeves. Since we have been here 6 years we now wear light coats or wind breakers if its 36 or above. I pull out the shorts if its 45 or above. ONce your body acclimates its different. Plus the cold is dry here so it does not feel as cold as 36 in Louisiana.

I had a prof in college that was from Pennsylvania and he swore living down here (well, in Louisiana) had made his blood thinner and he was more susceptible to getting cold. Didn't know if he was kidding or not.

Don't think it has anything to do with where you are from, different people have different tolerances for temperature. Sounds like you are working with a couple of ladies who just happen to be from the midwest. I would agree that you do get acclimated to a certain degree to the temps.

This 20 degree weather is not bad at all compared to places where it is below 0 without the wind chill, that is miserable.

-1 here in missouri this am. We have about 18" on the ground from the snow storm. Not bad if the wind doesn't blow.

Always wanted to retire in the Northwoods of Minnesota and fish till I die............but this past weekend of sub zero windchills has me second questioning that since their snow and iceouts last 4-6 months...

I would definitely be a snowbird if that was the case.

No kidding. When you are up north and this chit happens, you know it's gonna be 6 more months of it!!!!!! Depending on where you live up ther, if at all by the Great Lakes, now that, my friends is a cold wet cold!!!!!!! No doubt about it!!!!!! I hate winter. Gre up in NE Ohio and got my feet frostbit a s a kid (when I loved snow and winter), but to this day, I remember the pain of thawing out my toes. That was 40+ yrs ago. I hate winter ever since. That's why I came to Tx 30+ yrs ago. A crap, it's winter here too!!!!! Heck, I'm in my apt and I have 2 layers of clothes on and my feet are cold!!!!!!
Oh, have I said how much I hate winter?????

A few years ago, an old boss of mine tried to get me to move to White Bear, MN, where our group in headquartered. I told him no. He threatened me with my job. I told him to fire me. I'm still with the company.

He knew I liked to hunt and fish. He said I could take up icefishing. I told him that I thought it was nuts to go out on a iced over lake in a truck, dragging a big outhouse, drilling a hole in the ice, and starting a fire on the ice. He couldn't argue that.

My group is mainly from up north and we had our semi-annual group meeting in Dallas a couple of weeks ago because they wanted to get away from the cold. Good thing we didn't meet this week.

When deer season's over I'm ready for summer! Might be the only person in Texas that likes it @ 100 degrees.

I grew up in the North and remember riding the school bus with snow chains. Here,an inch hits the ground and everything shuts down.

I always found it to be the opposite. I'm from Chicago. I love the cold. I love the view outside my office window right now, with 6" of snow in our parking lot. Most of my friends down here are from LA, and I consistently poke at them because they break out scarves, jackets, gloves, etc when it drops below 60. Other than my camo, I'm not even sure where my old jackets/coats are. Been here for 7 years (In March) and haven't purchased a new jacket, other than a fleece, since being here.

However,Not at this time of year. Let's talk again in August, and I'll take my lashings then! The summer is when you'll hear me **** and moan!
