    I question why

My wife and I decided that we are going to move to alittle bigger house here in town and by doing so we are looking to sell our current house. We have spent the last several days looking and talking to some realators, family and friends and most all of them who know me and my house know that I have ALOT of taxi'd animals around the house (5 WT, 1 elk, coyote, 3 bobcats, raccoon, badger, pheasant and some euro mounts). With that being said, most of them tell me that in order to sell my house I will have to take down most if not all of them while the house is on the market. My question is why? I don't seem to understand why people who are looking at buying my house put so much attention on what the details on the wall instead of the details about the house being that it is completely remodeled head to toe (every square inch, literally).

What are some of your thoughts and opinions?

You are getting some good advice. Not only your mounts but also any other collections of any kind. The less clutter the better, will make your house look bigger. I understand your thinking but you don't want to lose any potential buyer for any reason. Don't let something as inconsequential as your mounts get in the way of a sale. And just think how good they are going to look in the new Casa. Good Luck on the sale........
Also most people just don't have the vision to see past what is there.

We were going over to someones house to get a dog and right as i walked into the door there is a huge shoulder mount of a cape buffalo right there and it suprised me and im a hunter. Some non-hunters are more sensitive to that kind of stuff than ususal and that could be the difference of a check and "thanks though"

Our house is on the market and we were told to de-personalize it as much as possible.. I think its dumb also but its the way it works

More than anything else you want to remove things that have a chance to make the place look smaller. The mounts and such do just that. Many times it's wise to remove furniture, lamps, and stuff like that which don't really add much and take up space. Making it look as big as possible, with a little clutter as possible is what they're really driving at.

This. When we put the big house on the market our realtor told us to take as much stuff out as possible. We did as he suggested and our house sold in two weeks.

This. Look at it this way, do you want anything drawing their attention away from what they are there to do (look at the house)? Personally I always look past furnishings (or the lack thereof), wall color, what is on the walls, drapery, etc.

It is just about removing distractions more than anything else, don't take it personally.

                  Good luck selling your house.

I love my mounts as much if not more than most, but if I wanted to sell my house I would listen to the realtor about "decluttering" the house to make it look bigger.

Don't care too much for realtors. They ask too much money and do very little work. Then they try to hook their friends up to "arrange" your house to make it more presentable for another small sum. Sell it yourself and avoid the use and abuse.

you want as many people as possible to picture theirselves in your house. if some potential buyers can't do that with your mounts in the house then you will lose those potential buyers. it's no different than having odd colored paint on the walls vs. neutral colors.

so ask yourself if you want the most potential buyers or fewer potential buyers when you are marketing your house and make your decision to keep them up or not.

Unless you're selling the mounts with the house.. why would you care if you had to take them down? Your selling the house.. you'll have to pack them anyway..
                          I don't understand that logic.

                            Take em down.

The point is to sell the house so a. less clutter and b. no need to offend or have that become the topic of their conversation.

Nerver show your home that has anything related to hunting or guns visible. Burglars pose as home buyers all the time. They get a grand tour of everything you have. THINK ABOUT IT
