    Whacky Stealth Cam memory cards?

Why couldn't the camera use a regular memory card???

Does anyone actually have the Compact Flash card? it is almost the size of a 3.25" floopy disc.

What size (kb) are the pictures your Stealth Cam 1.3MP camera takes? I am estimating that I will get between 100-225 pictures per set, so I need to make sure I get a big enought WHACKY COMPACT FLASH Card.

And how do you guys get the pics off the Stealth Cam? Do you carry a laptop with you and download directly?

The memory card is the one and only thing I like about the Moultrie cameras. I can grab the memory card prior to getting to my stand, and then flip through the pictures on my Normal Digital Camera. Used to help me pass time prior to sun up. Also helps you sit longer knowing there is a big one in your area the night before.

I run 1 or 2 gig cards in all my cameras. the 1.3 I think will only handle a 1gig. I use a laptop. Also cards are pretty cheap, you can always buy 2 and just switch cards.

My stealth cams use the SD card which are little. They must have changed the hardware...

I usually just download to my labtop, but I wanted to expand the memory. I went to the Stealth website and realized my camera only accepts a maximum of 512 mb compact flash. I had a really hard time finding a CF under 1 gig and the ones I did were a lot more expensive than the SD of the same size. I ended up getting the ones from Academy but had to buy two in the pack. http://www.academy.com/index.php?pag...338-01103-0129
Now, I'm just going to switch them out and buy a card reader for my computer.

I use the stealth cams and I just use 2 cards. You can get them real cheap off e-bay. I can get about 1000-1200 pics on a card if I leave i out for a while. I do download it to my laptop, but I have an older digital camera that I can read it on as well.

Man CF is honestly the best format for this. They are very durable and are cheap. Don't go to a store to buy memory, buy it online.

As for "Regular memory card" you should ask sony, fuji, and canon to decide what "regular" means

CF is also used in nearly every single high-end digital camera that is made.

I prefer the SDcards. The CF is big! And my camera says it can handle a max of 256MB CF card. I can't find anything smaller than 512MB. Will it hurt? I can't imagine it will. I am assuming that there wasn't such a thing as anything greater than 256 back when these were manufactured.

You should be able to find 256MB CF cards at Wal Mart CHEAP! Actually a lot of the higher end digital SLR cameras use CF format.

If you still can't find try www.newegg.com. Kingston brand is just as good and cheap as any of them.

CF is what my Canon 30d uses -
Wal-mart does sell the smaller ones

What size card do you use? I know the manufacturer says 256MB max.....but I am wondering if I can get 512 or 1GB cards. Also, what is the model of your older digital camera that uses CF cards?

I sure will miss sitting in the stand and reviewing the cards....haveing to wait will drive me nuts.

Wal-mart in Katy doesn't sell anything smaller than 1GB cards now. And they want nearly $30 for them. I am ebay shopping, and hoping that the internal 16MB doesn't fill up with pics of cows before the deer show up.

Jesse, go to www.newegg.com. Their prices are as cheap as anywhere I have found and customer service if ever needed is outstanding. eBay can be buyer beware especially on electronic stuff.

Thanks Mike. But on that website all their 256MB and 512MB cars are out of stock. Wish I had two more Moultries like the one you sold me.

Mike, do you think that I could go with 512MB or 1GB in the camera? I don't know why it would state 256MB, max.

Dang sorry about that Jesse. I didn't even check to see if they had them in stock. They usually do.

Some cameras especially the older ones won't recognize a card over 256MB. But as cheap as the cards are, it would b worth going to Walmart and buying one to see if it would work. Just stop by customer service and make sure the are returnable first. If they are, then I'd at least give it a try.
