Okay my sweet little boys have somehow broke one of the cables that attatch to the spring and I can barely get it down...Sure would be good if there was a TBHer that could help a brother out with a Good Deal or at least some fast service...Thanks Eric 817-480-3969

Need garage Door Repair in DFW (Bedford)

oddly enough, I strategically put a box in just the right place this past weekend and when the garage door came up, it pushed against the box and the opposite sides cable jumped the pulley....oh crap...noticed it on the way out to eat with the in laws and they had already left....so here I am with my pregnant Wife trying to figure out what to do with a garage door that is off kilter....I managed to get it all the way down.
after dinner and cogitating about the physics of the situation, I used this opportunity to convince my wife I needed a couple pairs of channel locks for the job and they were cheaper than calling someone out...lol....didn't even use the new irwin channel locks I bought...hehe...anyway...
push the door all the way up and try to get it square, take the cable loose from the bottom mount which is probably a bracket with three bolts that is affixed to the bottom panel with wheel, it has a nail head on it that the loop in the bottom of the cable slides on...it has a pliable rubber teardrop ring inside it...pry it off the nail head with a flat head screwdriver...it was easier to do this after removing the bracket from the panel but you might be able to do it without removing...so pull the cable, door all the way up (opener disconnected makes it way easier...lol), then a little step ladder action, check out the other side to see exactly what it is supposed to look like, go to the messed up side, hook the cable with the headed end into the pulley and wrap it back around, keeping pressure on the cable the entire time or it will spin itself loose....once you get it all the way around, you should be able to push/pry the door up enough with the arm that is between the header and door to get the tear dropped end of the cable back on the nail head....then Voila! saved yourself a couple bones, at least....
all in all, took me, by myself with a little thinking, less than 45 minutes to get it back in action....
just look at it and use your noggin....if you weren't up there in the great white north, I wold come fix it for ya...but you are so i won't.....lol
