He attributes my the pain in my neck to the way I sleep and ARTHRITIS!
The headaches are a direct result of my sleep apnea. When your brain doesn't get the oxygen it needs, while you're sleeping, the excess carbon dioxide will cause these lingering headaches.
He also said I have some neuropathy in my left leg and a little in my left arm. This is also a result of the way I sleep (on my stomach with both arms under my pillow).
So, the problems are nothing that can't be fixed. He's putting me on a strong vitamin regimen for the neuropathy, some pain killers for temporary relief in my neck with physical therapy for the long term solution. I'm also scheduled to get another CPAP, with a company that will take the time to make sure it's set up and comfortable for me to use ... so that I will use it. For the most part, all of these problems should go away once I've got a usable CPAP and get a good night's sleep.
Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers.
Good to hear Kevin.
Don't fight the CPAP...most failures happen with people who fight it. It's is more of a mental challenge than a physical one....at least it was going to be with me. I went in to the testing praying that that was all my problems were. I told myself, if that's all it was I would be happy that it could be treated because it got scary there for a bit. I embraced it thinking it would fix my headaches in the am and being tired all the time and I wanted that to happen. I sleep and have slept like a baby since I got it almost 5 years ago. With the good news the doctor gave you, I would welcome it knowing there is a solution.
Also look at the nasal pillows for comfort. Get ready for some of the best sleep you've had in years.
