I'm going to build an arrow backstop and I need some suggestions

A stack of square bails of hay.
No picks, but does it's job.

My Blob is showing up tomorrow, so I was looking into the same thing. Thought about something like this
Buy quality archery backstops here with free shipping to the lower 48 United States. Made in the USA

but I think I'll try and copy this, or just a piece of plywood

Go to tractor supply and get some of the solid rubber floor mats that go in the bottom of the horse trailer.

          Round bail works great

If you smooth miss the target and have square bales as your back up they will barely slow the arrow with any type of kinetic energy.

Scrap landscaping timbers for the base, scrap 2x4's for the frame. I think it is about 5 or 6 wide by 5' tall. I would use 2 layers of scrap carpet. My recurve never went through but a complete target miss with the bowtech would go through to the fence and stop.

Was the carpet tight or loose?

Just draped loose over the top. You can staple it or nail it down on top if you want but I had no problem with it moving. Like I said, if you have a fast bow you may need two layers of carpet. Or just don't move it too close to a fence and it won't hit anything.

I usually only miss with the recurve.....but with multiple kids shooting you never know what's gonna happen! =)

                            safety first

we lost a young child in our community in the last couple of weeks. the child snuck out and hid behind the target (gun). we can account for ourselves, but we have to keep those kids in mind. since most of us don't live on 1,000 acre spreads, it's tough. stay safe.

Yeah I shoot a razor edge at 46# so it's not incredibly fast
