Front sight removal on Delton upper?

I have an AR15 with a Delton upper and barrel assembly and a Yankee Hill free-float handguard that I want to swap on, but I cannot get the pins on the front sight to budge. I have hit them very hard. The pins are not flush with the body of the sight, they protrude from both ends of the hole they go through. I have Brownell's front sight block and I've watched the video several times on how to do this. I've tried, but I can't get in touch with anyone at Delton today. I'm beginning to think that these things are mushroomed on both ends and are non-removable instead of being tapered like other mfgs are. Help!

Yep, seen it. That's exactly how it should happen except my pins don't drive out through the block like that.

I may have to Tommy. ****, can't it just be easy like they show it in the video? That's why I bought the friggin' $40 block!

Called Delton today and they said that their sights are just held on by REALLY TIGHT taper pins, so I guess I'm just not hitting it hard enough. OK....I guess we'll see exactly what it takes.

I bought the same block from Brownells to remove my sight from my S&W uppper... On the block itself, it says one way to remove pins, one way to replace pins.

              MY PINS WERE IN BACKWARDS!!!

Take a good look at each side and one will be a larger diameter than the other. Obviously, that's the side that needs to come out. i.e., use your hammer and punch on the narrow end of the pin.

                Good Tip!

Every time I thought I was hitting a pin really hard, it actually turned out I still wasn't hitting it hard enough - those are some hard little suckers! Just keep hitting it - you're taking it off anyway and pins are cheap. So, if you do break or bend one and have to cut it off in the end, so what?

                Good luck!

I was truly shocked at how hard I had to smack my pins to get them to move... It was unsettling, but after I have fought with them for too long, I got to a point where I really didn't care anymore. That is when I picked up the big hammer and hit it like I wasn't playing around anymore. It worked.

Use a bigger punch and just smack it to flush with the sight housing, then switch to one that will drive it through.
