Led looks a lot better and you don't have the fuzzy picture during action scenes like you do with the cheaper LCD tv's. We will be buying a new led once we get in the new house!

With the new LCD's having 240 hertz+....I dont think there is a difference. Im looking into a new TV for the living room myself.....I have a LCD already, and will probably be staying with the LCD. For the extra $$.......I'll book myself a nice ranch hunt somewhere!!!

LED tv's are LCD's just with different light sources.

LED tv's use led lights that are more responsive and use less energy than the lighting that normal lcd's use.

The higher end led's will be back lit with hundreds or thousands of led lights.

Lower end led tv's and lcd tv's will have edge lighting which is not as accurate across the panel as back lighting.

That's where the back lit led's shine in providing a more consistent and accurate picture across the panel.

The refresh rate of the lcd panel itself will determine if you have the screen door effect.

Anything 120hz or higher will have little or no screen door effect.

All that said Plasma still has the best picture. It just uses more energy but not nearly as much more as it's made out to be.
