    Another brisket question

Bought a new chest freezer to add to my upright I already have and did a little shuffling around this AM. In that process I found a 2 year old brisket that looks good (I know how do you overlook a brisket right?) and is still sealed in it's original packaging with no holes that I can see.

What are the chances it is still good? Bought it and another to grind up with deer to make HB meat. Used one and forgot about this one..

You must have been to busy with work to remember you had it in there...

Bring it to me and I'll take care of it for you!

Finally something I can help you with. Cook it as normal and eat it. If you puke, it's no good. If not, well that goes without saying.. Bon apetit!!!

I found one this year that was 3 years old It had slight burning/discoloration in a few spots. I thought what the heck, trimmed up any spots I found and smoked it. It turned out pretty good.....say 8 out of 10. Wasnt none of it got thrown away!

Should be ok, Jason. Found this one in my freezer in October. It had a 2008 date stamp. If anything, it may dry out quicker.

only 1 year is nothing, too many people throw away too much good food because of a date. put it on the pit, it will be like you bought it last week.

Thaw it out slowly in the fridge in the package. Once you unwrap it, take a whiff, if it's rank, chunk it, smells decent, trim off any freezer burned area (if any) then throw it on the smoker!
