??? Cabela's food slicer ... how fast should blade spin.

I recently got a Cabelas food slicer. I just now turned it on to check it out as I have to cut up a few deer today.

When I turned it on, the bladed turned, but not real fast.

Question... is the blade supposed to turn slow or fairly fast.

I found the user guide and it really didn't have any info on the blade... other than it is sharp.

My deli slicer does not turn that fast...cant tell you the exact rpm but it might make a rotation a second at most...

BTW, it works better if you lay the meat you want to slice out in the freezer on a tray to get "almost" frozen...room temperature slices will want to stick to the blade and wrap around and jam on the backside....

I bought mine from academy and my blade turns fairly slow. I was worried about the same thing when I first bought mine, I thought it would turn faster. When you cut up the deer did it seem to spin faster?

that sounds about how fast mine turns. reminds me of a grinder.

the meat has been on ice(covered) and will be very very cold. But, you are right, itis much easier to cut meat half frozen than thawed out.

          thanx,

I have the Cabelas slicer.....hope you don't have to slice too much. It won't hold up to long...just my experience! Good luck!

Yep, they turn slowly. You'll have to buy a commercial one if you want to up the RPM's.

I don't know how fast yours should spin, but from looking at some other brands, most are around 200-300 rpms. Some commercial units are around 700.
If I didn't think my opinion was right, then it wouldn't be my opinion. So, any other opinion must be wrong, therefore stupid.

I bought a slab of ribeyes...it smelled hot by the time we got done cutting them . We had to force it through the slicer. We were cutting them about an inch thick. It may have just been the one we got but it went back to Cabelas for a different model.
