Can a retired IPhone 3G be converted to just a IPod.........?

Basically reload OS for IPod to increase storage..........probably cant be done but I had to ask.

I think you can just plug it into Itunes, it puts the icons back on and kind of unlocks the phone. Then you can use everything but the phone. I may be wrong though.

My wife just deleted all of her contacts (except immediate family) on her old 3G and downloaded my 8yo son's music & apps to it. He can play interactive games when he's in a Wifi hotspot like McDonalds or when we have our Verizon hotspot connected.

Turn on airplane mode to keep phone portion from even trying to work. Could help battery life.
