I grew up in Uvalde and have always liked Mr C's. They have great Carne Guisada. If you're hungry, you can order the Kimi Special. Lot's of food!!!

            Another vote for Mr. C`s,
It`s the last building on the right as you go out the west side of Uvalde, can`t miss it.
Mr C sold that place to Ophelia's, so the place described in post #2 is Ophelias. Mr C then reopened a little closer to 83 on the south side of the road. It is a pink building. I think it was a furniture store several years ago but I'm not certain of that. All of this happened in the last 6 months-1 year.

The Kimi Special is the truth. While Mr C's was closed Ophelias kept the Kimi Special. I haven't been to Ophelias since Mr C's reopened so I'm not sure if Ophelias still has the Kimi Special. I do know the new Mr C's has it and it is as good as ever.

Theres a place off 83 past the EMS station that we always eat breakfast at. I think it's called Julio's. Cant remember exactly. It's pretty Jam up though

                That place was in Tarpley.....

BEST place to eat mexican food hands down in Julio's!! Mile south of HWY 90 on HWY 83.

I frequent the area all the way out to Del Rio and Eagle Pass and my suggestion is to wait until you get back to SA or Austin.

If you're a little further south, you can eat at Yomi's in Batesville. Always good.
Go south out of Uvalde on RR117 to Batesville. It's about 25 miles. Turn left on 57 and Yomi's will be 1 block on the right. Small town so they close by 8 or 8:30pm. Open early and have great breakfast too. We like it so much we hardly cook much anymore.

I will have to try it as well. Never went to Mr. c's as it didn't look enticing(the location that is now Ophelia's). I thought it was a burger joint or something.

Even better reason to check it out.

The oasis is the one in Andrew Zimmerman's show. It is very good. There is also a little taco shack at the conoco out by the rodeo arena that makes great tacos!
