    Bow setup?

I haven't been bow hunting in a long time, but was wondering if y'all have a different set up for deer and hog, or just use the same setup.

Only difference is broadheads. I have Rage's on my deer and other large game arrows, and G5 Montecs for hogs. Tried the Rage on a hog and got about 4 inches of penetration and never recovered the hog.

Do you use fixed or mech broadheads for hogs?

I use a different set up, I'll tell you what I have and the reasons why.

                    Deer Set-up:
                    Bowtech Destroyer 340
                    DW-61lbs
                    DL-29in
380 grain arrow: Carbon Express Maxima with a 100 grain Slick Trick Magnum
                    4 pin sight

I use this set up because obvioulsy 61lbs is a lot more comfortable to draw when you've been on stand for hours and your muscles are cold, the Destroyer's speed allows me to drop to that poundage without sacrificing too much speed. I also believe this to be a very accurate set up, I want a good clean hit on a deer because I want a very high recovery rate. The Carbon Express Maxima arrow is one of the most accurate arrows in the market right now, and is also very fast off the string, havnt had a deer jump the string yet. 4 pin sight because I dont deer hunt over a feeder and there is no telling where the deer might show up or where I'll have to take a shot. Also the Slick Tricks Fly great and they are EXTREMELY sharp, allowing better penetration for a lighter set up.

                    Hog Set-up:
                    Elite Synergy Extreme
                    DW-72 lbs
                    DL- 29 in
680 grain arrow: Full Metal Jacket Dangerous Game with a 125 grain Magnus Stinger
HHA Single pin sight with light

I use this set up for hogs because of pure penetration reasons. 72 lbs is a little more uncomfortable, but I do my hog hunting in the later winter and spring, so my muscles don't really get stove up too bad, I also need that poundage to push the 680 grain arrow which hits a pig about like a telephone pole. A little less accurate set up but I'm mainly concerned about thinning the hogs out more than harvesting them for the table. The Magnus Stinger is a great cut on contact broadhead that is very strong. I use the HHA single pin sight because I do hunt hogs over feeders and I set up within 20 yards, the single pin also makes it a lot easier to see when Im hunting at night or dusk and turn my sight light on.

Hope you can see the differences there and my reasoning

I use my same set up for everything from squirrels to bear. The only thing that changes are broad heads....

                      Drenalin
                      70#
                      27 1/2 draw
                      470 g arrows

Never been a mech fan so it's fixed heads for me.
