Curent prices for trapped wild hogs is??

Has anybody been selling hogs and how much are they paying for them nowdays, I been thinking bout setting up the cow pens again if they are paying enuff to make money from them. I also have been wondering how hard is it for a ranch to become a certifed or whatever it takes to sell hogs legally to game preserves and other legit buyers??? I know if one becomes certifed by Texas you can not sell sows or shoats to a preserve but can you sell to a hog processor who is killing them or what is the deal? There has to be a way to cut out the middleman and go direct but how much that takes and hassle and liab i am not sure on. Last thing i need is to sell a hog to somebody and they get sick and suelol Where do all of these hogs that get bought go to anyways now days?? I thought after the swine flu scare and the economy crash they kinda quit paying enuff money to trap and haul them in. I know last 24 trailer load we hauled in was not protfitable at 13 cents a 200 pound boar. I have heard rumors of 50 cents again for boars but not sure if it is true. I would like to find a buyer who could come in once a month and haul them off from my ranch and pay me at the scale. Is anybody doing this on here?? Thanks in advance.

I think it is closer to 40-50 cents per pound around here on 150# and up. The stuff under 100#s won't bring much.

On texasboars there is no list just a buyer for southern wild game and you have to call for prices.

In gonzales, there is a guy that buys wild hogs for 42 cents/lb. All sizes, no matter wat. Id have to look at his info to remember his name... Ill get back to u

They were paying 13 cents per pound, that meant they got 200 pound boars from us at $26 dollarslol I about blew when the hands got back from hauling them over there. Thats why I turned loose the pen full i had left at the ranch. Lots were just not buying period at that time, plus i was feeding them corn every day and lots of it. They told me they were paying 30 cents when we sent them over, but at the counter where they cut checks they had todays price 13 cents due to no buyers, the guy was buying them to fill up his pen and i guess wait for a price increase.

Anybody know what exactly it takes to get a buyers license and where does it actully come from??? There is no place down here close to us to come out on hauling them in. Meyers died and does not buy anymore they were in refugio close to us like 15 minutes. Crazy since we got more hogs per acre than most countyslol Thanks for the info, i think i am going to call southern wild game and get a current price list and or see if they have a website with buyer/seller guides, 50 cents a pound is a good price and makes trapping and feeding them worth while it one can get a 24 foot trailer every 2 or 3 weeks going in.

I actually just opened up my own Hog Buying Station in Harwood, Texas. I am trying to get the word out to as many people as possible. We are paying 15 cents a pound for 50-100 pounds and 30 cents a pound for anything over 100 pounds. It is David's Wild Hogs 830-263-1747
