Question about blood

I see people on here asking for blood, How would one go about saving blood from a deer.. Storage for long term.

or a butter dish. as for collection/harvest of blood in the field, I use gal storage bags and I double bag it.

Whats the best size containers? I thought about saving some for those that ask for it during the year.

I don't know how everybody else does it but I used a 6oz plastic cup and dipped the blood out of the body cavity and put it in a gal ziploc. Got back to the house and put it in a blender (my wife is so understanding ) and ran it a few minutes and then put it in ziploc snack bags and put it ona tray and froze them. Just take out what you need and thaw it.

I also cut some strips off of the hide from my deer I got and froze them individually.

I do the same as BTLowry...... except mine goes right into containers that I can stack in the freezer. I will strip out a hide and either put one strip in each container or freeze the strips seperate.

I went to the dollar store and bought a bunch of those red and yellow plastic squeeze bottles they use for ketchup and mustard. Fill them about 3/ 4 full along with some strips of hide and I'm good to go

I use a soup latil and put the blood on old water bottles Freeze

I use smaller sandwinch bags (double them up and freeze). Take it right out of the chest cavitiy with a cup and put it in the bags and throw them in the cooler along with the liver,heart and legs. The stuff is like gold in the off season so I would rather thaw two bags out if I need it on the pups than have bigger bags where I dont need that much on my experienced dog. Try to use every drop.
