I have seen a few threads about "lazy bucks" getting hung up in fences, well this is mine.. Friday afternoon my FIL, was delivering propane out in the country in Childress CO, when he and my nephew seen this little guy hung up in a fence. The buck was caught between top wire and the t-post, spun back around towards the field he was leaving when he got hung up. He cut the top wire and the released the deer and the deer hobbled about 5 feet then bedded down. FIL came into town and grabbed me and the other kids to let me see him and see what I thought. I begrudgingly went thinking there is no-way that the buck is still there. Well to my surprise we pulled up and the guy was still there. Right when I seen the position of him I knew he was in trouble. He wasn't nervous (or atleast didn't show any signs) I cautiously walked over and and checked him out, he didn't move or freak out. After about 10 minutes, I allowed my kids and nephew to come up and get close. This is my FIL and my 2 kids with nephew givin some love to the little feller. We called the local GW and he said to leave him and will come check it out in the morning. Well bad news... GW called this morning and said the guy expired during the night (no coyotes) looked like he must have tore a blood vessel trying to get loose??? The leg was outta of socket.

Your right... I was explaining to my little girl today why the deer had to go bye bye, but how he loved the fact that her and her brother gave him a little peace before he went to Deer Heaven and is now spending time with his brothers & sisters that we help send to deer heaven this season.
in seriousness though, there were some tears shed last night by the kids and I know my wife is dealing with it this evening, but as was said above, it is part of the natural cycle and there are other organisms that will flourish because of our deer friend.
