    2011 Elk Hunt

I blame yall for this since my thread from a few years ago was brought back up I have convinced myself that this year I will finally spend a week or more chasing elk in the mountains. I can not at this point convince any of my church going friends to make this trek with me but I am now trying to weigh my options. I have been invited on a do it yourself type hunt in Colorado but would also like to look at my options for being guided by an outfitter. New Mexico or Colorado wouldnt be too terribly far for me. I am asking here if yall could give me names or websites of those that could help guide me on a elk hunt that yall have had incredible experiences with and maybe even a little success. A huge bull is not really what I am after but I wouldnt mind a decent shot a nice bull. (upper 200's or 300") I do like to shower in the evenings or mornings before and after hunts so a cabin or tent with heated shower would be nice. Someone to cook the food would be nice and a guide who will try and get me on elk and setup way behind me trying to get the bull to come in broadside to me with their calling. Though I have dreamed about elk hunting I have never been on a elk hunt so I have no idea where to start but I do know I want my first one to be a good learning experience with a decent chance of bringing home something in the bed of my truck with antlers Thanks for your time and Lord willing I will actually get to go this time

To meet most of your requirments or "wants", you would be better off hiring an outfitter, $$$$.

You won`t get all of that on a DIY hunt, But DIY is the most fun and rewarding and the only way I elk hunt.

for my first elk hunt I thought it a good idea to go with an outfitter who really knows whats going on. Then later on, Lord willing I get to go again, then I start going on my own
