I don't have a good dip bait recipe, but some prepared bait.
1 loaf of wonder white bread
1 container drained chicken livers
1 splash of milk
1 dash of garlic salt
Mix contents into a dough. We ussually let it sit sealed in a container for a few days in the sun. Where gloves applying to hook and hang on for some good ones.

My Dad and I made some home made stink bait and it was the best stuff we have ever used.
Recipe
5 lbs of beef brains
4 lbs of sharp cheddar cheese
1 lb of limburger cheese
1 stick of margarine
Grind up the ingredients using the small grind die and mix together well. Now I can't remember how many quart jars we used but we filled them half way and closed the lids but don't close them so tight that air can't get out but tight enough that bugs can't get in. If you close them to tight they will explode when it is fermenting. Store in cool OUTSIDE area (not cold). We made this in the early spring but after the last freeze and I think that it took about three months till it was ready. The contents will expand almost to the top and then settle back down. Once it settles back down it's ready to use.

We pretty much always used Catfish Charlie bought from any store. But we always chum with spoiled maze. Just take a 5 gl. bucket fill it about halfway to the top with maze , put in just enough water to cover the maze then sit it in the sun for a few days or put a sun lamp on it in the winter time. The stuff spoils and stinks to high heaven, once you get your spot use a scoop or a cup and chum the water, brings in the catfish which you can catch with the catfish charlie or it will bring in the crappie if you wnat to catch some of those to.Last edited by theboydoutdoors; 01-10-2011, 09:04 PM.
