Truck is running again!! (new driveshaft...)

My driveshaft carrier bearing bracket broke last Thursday in camp. Found out it is unserviceable (made that way thank you Ford) so Monday I had Driveshaft King here in Dallas build a new one with serviceable parts. Quoted $750 and had it built and balanced in 48 hours. Put it back in today and drives like a dream.
Even the "thump" I have felt for a long time is gone. That was another Ford super design. Tech Service Bulletin said fill the mid-spline with a "special" grease. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. Or replace the POS with a good one (at least that's my take on it...
Anyway, big red is back on the road and I can hunt this weekend.

I wish I could have replaced the carrier bearing. Unserviceable/no one has one/buy new driveshaft or have one built. Only option other than a weaking yard and they are suspect as it's a bad design...
And the freggin u-joints are $158 a piece...

Did you get your old shaft back??? They are rebuildable and are done every day by independent shops, i got screwed out of about $1200 for 2 unrebuildble driveshafts until i met up with the guy next door to Planet Pickup in San Antonio Texas, Driveshaft Specialities, he will cut the tube and install an updated greaseable ujoint and newer greaseable cv joint for any truck with those no good throw away type factory shafts with no way to service them. He just moved last week to a newer and larger shop on McCullogh somewhere not sure exactly. But i have been in your shoes and had to bend over and get all new stuff just to get rolling again, bet the shop will see your old shaft to a rebuilder and he will get money for selling it. Thats what a shop was doing to me beofre i went to a dodge truck forum and asked what was the deal with the unreuildable driveshaft scam??
